HRSA HERO CHW Training Program

The goal of CHW Connect training model is to prepare individuals with the basic skills to be effective Community Health Workers. Real life scenarios and exercises are built into each component to reinforce skills. This training program includes:

  • 104 hours of in-classroom, didactic Community Health Worker Training based on the core competencies and modular topics
  • Assignments will include readings, self-assessments, practice reflections, and/or additional activities
  • Classes will include case study reviews and skills practice sessions
  • Supplemental special health-related topic seminars

Applicants are required to:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have earned at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Be proficient in reading, writing and verbal communications
  • Possess basic computer literacy skills, including email and Microsoft Word.

CHW 101 - The Basics

An introduction to Community Health Work

This class is taught in a virtual format. Classes will run for 8 weeks. Two days per week for one hour.

Normal registration fee is $25.
*1st class is free

This class will be taught twice a year.
