Dr. Ben Gerber is an internist and Professor of Medicine. His research interests include chronic disease self-management and health behavior promotion through technology. His research focuses on low-income minority populations and those with less access to health services. Dr. Gerber developed mytapp, a simple, 2-way text messaging app designed for health promotion.

Dr. Lisa Sharp is an Associate Professor and clinical health psychologist with expertise in exploring how individuals’ life contexts influence their chronic disease self-management behaviors, medication adherence, and use of healthcare. Her research aims to develop novel interventions that will support underserved and ethnic minority individuals. Her research has included intervention with peer coaches, clinical pharmacists, text messaging, and other technology-enabled approaches. Her research spans many chronic diseases with funding from NHLBI, NCI, and NIDDK.
