Dr. Robert Winn is a specialist in pulmonary and critical care medicine with a firm commitment to use community based research to drive basic science research and evidence based clinical delivery. Dr. Winn received his undergraduate training at Notre Dame University and medical training at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Winn also runs a basic science translational research lab that focuses on mechanisms that drive cellular proliferation that leads to early cell death and thus lung cancer. In addition to the recently awarded $17.4 Million NCI ChicagoCHEC grant, Dr. Winn is also the PI of a $1.4Million NCI grant called the GUIDE Project where he is working with Governors State University.
