Dr. Maríñez-Lora is a Research Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry. Her research focuses on mental health services, cultural adaptation of evidence-based interventions for Latino immigrants, parental school involvement, parent training, and the use of evidence-based practices by community-based clinicians. She co-directs a home-visiting program, Building Family Foundations, for young African American and Latino mothers.

She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her internship in Clinical Child Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at UIC, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Child Psychology at Harvard Medical School/Children’s Hospital Boston. She has been at UIC since 2004.
